Band 7 in Writing Task 2 is rarely about vocabulary. It is about a clear position, paragraphs that develop one idea each, and language accuracy that holds up over 250 words.
Start by answering the question directly in your introduction. An examiner should know your position after the second sentence — not after the conclusion.
Each body paragraph needs one main idea, an explanation of why it matters, and one specific example. Two ideas stuffed into one paragraph is the most common reason a script stalls at 6.5.
Finally, leave three minutes for a targeted proofread: articles, subject-verb agreement, and plural endings. These small errors are what pull an otherwise strong essay down.
